The Aviva Community Project

Tricketts Insurance Brokers helps to provide solutions when things go wrong. We also believe that in many cases prevention is better than cure, which is why we like to work with various local charities in and around the Rossendale valley.

Chief among our concerns are the struggles faced by young people in the digital age.  We have devoted a lot of our free time during the last year to developing and publicising our bid for financial support from the Aviva Community Fund.

The Magdalene team do some incredible work in Rossendale

Working alongside The Magdalene Project, a charity based in Bacup, Tricketts Insurance hoped to win funding for a Young Persons’ Community Counsellor (YPCC).

The idea of a community counsellor was conceived in-house by The Magdalene Project and is intended to provide a free psychotherapy counselling service to ‘at risk’ teenagers and young adults in Rossendale.

With young people ever more at risk from suicidal thoughts, self harm, dependency issues, online grooming, cyber bullying, gang affiliation and other complex issues, it was thought that such a counsellor would make an extremely useful addition to the project.

Funding for a Young Persons Community Counsellor

The Magdalene team do some incredible work in Rossendale.  However, due to the sensitive nature of the issues it tackles, they often go un-noticed and unheard.  The staff are all incredibly dedicated and do not shout about the work that they do.

‘Team Tricketts’ thought it was time to give them a much deserved boost and that is why we decided to apply to the Aviva Community Fund.

Despite mounting a social media campaign, courting local press coverage and an amazing amount of support from the community, The Magdalene Project was not short listed this time around. However, undeterred, everybody involved is even more  determined to win funding next year.

Tricketts Insurance Brokers remains committed to our charity partners and to our responsibilities as members of a thriving and exciting community.

So, watch this space for more information and if you want to get involved please feel free to contact Tricketts on 01706 212231.

We thank all of you for your support and look forward to next year!

Style in the City 2015

As a profession, insurance is often viewed as very serious and maybe even a little bit dull.  People are prone to imagine rows and rows of grey suited individuals sitting at desks all day long with stoney faces that never smile.

Well, here at Tricketts that couldn’t be further from the truth!

Insurance, the stylish of all the professions!

So, as part of our mission to help other people get the most out of life, while at the same time having a little bit of fun, we were pleased to join the Insurance Institute of Manchester for the Style in the City 2015 event.

The 1950’s themed event, which took place on July 3rd at Manchester Midland Hotel, raised funds for the Autism charity, Jumpstart; an organisation close to all of our hearts.

Janine Packman, Tricketts BDM, introduced local treasure and neighbouring business, The award winning Sunday Best, as this year’s show and fashion provider.

Tricketts has long been a fan of Autism charity, Jumpstart

She also got ‘hands on’ back stage dressing the insurance industry models for the fashion show which  featured rock ‘n’ roll hits from 50’s bad boy band, The Bluejays.

Tricketts is a fan of the work carried out by Autism charity, Jumpstart, and as such were delighted to play our part in helping to raise money by donating a raffle prize, along with our time and energy.

So, the next time you think that insurance is a bit dull, think of Style in the City catwalk and those grey suits who were ‘up for it’!

Remember to watch this space for more news of our charity involvement, and maybe you can get involved too!!

The Raft Foundation is another Rossendale based charity doing some incredible work which Tricketts is proud to be associated with.

Providing the only Foodbank service in Rossendale, The Raft Foundation works with families and individuals who find themselves in crisis.

For over a year we at Tricketts Insurance have been a dedicated collection point for the foundation, doing all we can to help those in need however we can.

Even so, whatever we do, we can only do it with your help.  Foodbanks are a relatively new concept here in the UK and, as such, are often subject to debate.

With this in mind we asked the good folk at The Raft Foundation to explain exactly why people should consider getting involved:

Struggling financially is not limited to a particular age group or background,” we were told.

“Nationally, people struggle to feed themselves and their families due to redundancy, long term illness, debt, family breakdown and higher heating costs during winter, to name but a few.

“Foodbanks have been shown to prevent crime, housing loss, mental health problems and family breakdown.

“It is our wish to coordinate the collection of publically donated non-perishable food and sort it so that nutritionally balanced food can be supplied to those in need.”

If you would like to know more or find out how you can get involved, take a moment to visit the foundation’s website and watch this space for continuing news and updates.

The Rossendale Triathlon 2015 10th Anniversary Event

charity-triathalon

With our Business Development Manager, Janine Packman, being a dedicated runner and fitness enthusiast, it is hardly surprising that Tricketts Insurance Brokers were proud sponsors of the Rossendale Triathlon 2015 10th anniversary event recently.

The well attended annual event, which took place in Rawtenstall on Sunday 24th May 2015, was roundly applauded as a roaring success by all who came out on the day.

Records were set and broken as more than 250 competitors from across the North West gathered to take on the gruelling challenge.

Consisting of a 400m swim, a 21km bike ride and a 5km run the Rossendale Triathlon is not for the faint of heart.

With our Director and Business Development Manager taking part, Tricketts Insurance easily beat its own personal best time from previous years.

Director, Roger Shadlock, said: “It’s a brilliant event so well organised and supported.   We think it deserves to be celebrated and backed so it will keep on going for many years to come.
