Tricketts donate cash for Kicks

Youngsters at the Bacup Premier League Kicks session had a special visitor this week as Janine Packman of Tricketts Insurance visited to hand over a cheque for £920 in support of the work being done by Burnley FC in the Community in the Rossendale Valley.

The money was raised by staff, customers and valley residents who took part in the ‘Tricketts to the Turf’ sponsored walk, which took place ahead of the Burnley FC V West Bromwich Albion FC fixture last season.

The walk, measured at 13,500 yards and estimated at taking 135 minutes to complete, was organised by Tricketts to celebrate their 135th birthday and to raise funds for the Clarets official charity to be able to expand their offering in the Rossendale Valley.

A team of 35 walkers took on the trek, starting at the Bank Street offices of Tricketts and taking in refreshments at the Waggoner’s Inn before finishing pitch side at Turf Moor, where the group met Bertie Bee and the youngest members of the walk took to the hallowed Turf as part of the pre-match build up.

Janine Packman of Tricketts said: “It was great to see the session in action first hand.  We are very committed to working with our community and we do various things for charities locally. We are keen to make a difference where possible and by becoming Friends of Burnley FC in the Community and organising fundraising events such as this we hope to see more activities for children, young people and disadvantaged local people delivered by a fantastic, community focused charity such as Burnley FC in the Community.”

Ryan Bradley, Business Development Executive at Burnley FC in the Community said: “Our Premier League Kicks sessions are a great, informal way of getting young people involved in positive activity. The sessions take place in the heart of communities at times that suit the young people and they have a positive impact on all of the residents by reducing anti-social behaviour, increasing community cohesion levels and helping with health and fitness.”

“It is great to see Tricketts backing the work that we do as a charity and helping us to not only sustain our current offer but helping us directly grow into new areas and the recently launched Bacup and Haslingden sessions are a great example of businesses and ourselves working together to inspire, support and deliver change in communities”

The Bacup Kicks session takes place on Thursday, 4.30-6.30pm. For more details email Social Inclusion Manager Rebecca Robertson on r.robertson@burnleyfc.com or call 01282 704 716
